Treatment for American Veterans

But this Veterans Day, I believe we should do more than sing the praises of the bravery and patriotism that our veterans have embodied in the past. We should take this opportunity to re-evaluate how we are treating our veterans in the present.
– Nick Lampson, former Member of Congress (TX)

For America’s valiant war veterans, nothing is more compelling than living out their code of honor — fighting for their country’s freedom. But thousands are returning from battle weary and wounded, many suffering traumatic brain injuries (TBI). Who will fight for them?

New Beginning Community Center is on the front lines, mobilizing the healthcare community to help achieve an unprecedented TBI rehabilitation victory. We are proud to announce that the Center has been certified as a TRICARE provider.

Now active duty service members, National Guard and Reserve members, retirees, their families and survivors who are part of the TRICARE healthcare program can take advantage of New Beginnings Community Center services.

Our trained staff includes neuropsychologists and other professionals will be screening veterans to determine if they suffer from PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), TBI (traumatic brain injury) or other cognitive, mental or emotional disorders.

After diagnosis, veterans will be able to take advantage of our outpatient facility and day program — the first of its kind in New York State. Our mission is to help restore and empower the men and women who have served their country with honor, helping them to regain their quality of life.

Currently, our clinical director, Celine Paillot, Ph.D. is available for evaluations, psychological screening and individual therapy.
We are also working to provide people with referrals to resources that best meet their needs. All branches of the US military pay for this therapy for veterans.

Future Services & Therapies

New Beginnings will be unique — providing the treatment step that is too often missing after acute and sub-acute long-term rehabilitation. Housed in one location, our facility will provide a wide-range of state-of-the art services:

  • Screening to diagnose and treat post-traumatic stress before it becomes PTSD
  • 24/7 telephone support
  • Revolutionary treatment plans using first-class equipment, including the Quadriciser and the Lokomat
  • A wide-range of therapies
    • Cognitive
    • Hyperbaric Oxygen
    • Physical
    • Speech

Our goal is to move patients beyond traumatic brain injury management to maximum rehabilitation and recovery — in mind, body and spirit.

You can be sure that New Beginnings founder, Allyson Scerri, is an uncommon ally for TBI survivors and their loved ones. Having fought to secure the best treatment for her father’s traumatic brain injury, Scerri advocates relentlessly for the awareness, support and medical advancement of cutting-edge TBI treatment.
